Margaret E Holland m. Walter McFarland 1940-50's |
I'm at a loss for dates and parents of
most of my grand or great grandparents. Walter McFarland was
married to my grandmother Margaret E Holland (maiden) sometime in
the 40's or 50's. He left not to be heard of again. I believe he
died in 1975 but am not sure. My maternal great grandmother was
Ollie Williamson (maiden) but can find no documentation on her
parents in Maryland. Also have no info on her first husband (my
great grandfather) who fathered Rachel Elizabeth Whitby and
several other children. My paternal grandmother Margaret Holland
(maiden) was born 11 April 1919 and died 27 Jan 1991 but I am
unable to find anything on her parents except her mothers first
name was Lydia. Her married name was McFarland. My mothers
paternal grand parents were Clara Hudson and Wesley Christopher
Tribbett. I don't know if they were in Delaware or Maryland. They
had several children Lawrence Edward Tribbett being my
Grandfather. Any info you are able to find would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks, Thomas Edward McFarland. Thom McFarland rebelpiper@hotmail.com Feb 08 2001 |

Daniel Holland, San Francisco, CA 1800's |
"Daniel Holland was
born...six miles out on London port...Aug 6 1839, 'W' adopted later.
He was named for the village from which he came, Woolwich, England,
outside of London. The folks at Ellis Island insisted on two
given names." He was born when his family was on its way
back from India. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1867 and
eventually settled in San Francisco where he became somewhat of a
renowned tailor. In 1869 he brought his younger brother, Edward,
to the U.S. and returned to his native land in 1871 to marry Louisa C.
Brayshaw (1849-c. 1902). Their first child, Louisa C. Holland,
was born in England in 1874, but the young family returned to San
Francisco and their thriving tailor shop in 1875. Eight more
children were born in San Francisco: Flora D.; Herbert G.;
Lillian; Jessie H.; Ruby; Gertrude; Alice Maude; Mae Evelyn.
Daniel died in San Francisco in 1919. Any help with the ancestors or
descendants of this family? Thanks, |

James Holland, OH>MD | I am trying to
trace a JAMES Holland from OH back to MD. The 1860 census for
Lodi twp, Athens County, OH, lists James Holland 41, with the
following: RUTH 18, HARRY 13, EMELINE 12, HOPTON 8,
(spelled UPTON on the 1870 census), AMOS 6, AMANDA 3, HARRET 43, (she
is listed last with note "seamstress" although I presume she
is the wife.) I have copied the names exactly as shown on the census.
All persons were listed as born in MD, which if true, means that they
came to OH around 1857. Any info on this family will be greatly
appreciated, and I would like to share the info that I have.
Thanx. Bill. EHollandbill@aol.com 4 October 2000 |
