Curtis David Holland and brother Louis Lea Holland sons of David Holland This picture was taken presumably in Pikeville, NC. It was given to me by Georgia Hinnant Crumpler whose mother was one of the Goodman children reared by 'Aunt' Lizzie and 'Uncle' Nathan' Barnet of Pikeville. Louis and Curtis were also reared by Aunt Lizzie for a while after their mother left. |

Louis Lea Holland son of David Holland This picture was taken presumably in Pikeville, NC. It was given to me by Georgia Hinnant Crumpler (by way of Alton Parnell) whose mother was one of the Goodman children reared by 'Aunt' Lizzie and 'Uncle' Nathan Barnet of Pikeville. Louis and Curtis were also reared by Aunt Lizzie for a while after their mother left. I don't know who the baby is. |
Louis and Curtis Holland descended through:
Elisha's 11th child, Exum (the 3rd child of Elisha's second wife Patie Peacock)
Exum's 8th and last child by his first Wife, Penniah Boswell, Calvin C. Holland,
Calvin's 7th child by his first wife, Sarah Jane Ballenberger, David Holland.
He is David's 1st child by his first wife Emma Lea Bryant, Louis Lea Holland, my
dad.
He married my mom, Iris Boyette Bellamy, on 17 May 1939. He became a pharmacist and owned his own drug store in Hamlet, NC, where I was born and grew up. My dad was a very active participant in community life in Hamlet. He retired there and was buried there in Richmond Memorial Park. The most memorable as well as endearing characteristic about my dad was that he thoroughly enjoyed people.
