Avey Ann Elizabeth Holland was a daughter of William Henry Holland and his wife Elizabeth, and granddaughter of Jesse and Betsy Holland. She was born in Georgia on 14 January 1852 (or 9 January 1852, per her death certificate). She was married to Benjamin Maddox and had 11 children with him. She died 21 September 1940 at age 87 (or 88). This certificate was provided by Sheila Fuller Hardy.

My father's people came from Wayne County, North Carolina. Although I live in Alabama now, I inherited his love of our heritage.
