The City Commissioners of Goldsboro, in 1853, authorized Colonel Charles Nelson to survey and plan a city cemetery. It's historical significance today includes a mass grave of 800 Civil War soldiers, both Union and Confederate, and a Confederate monument, erected in 1883. | ![]() |
