This page is a sub-section of Addie Cornelia Holland, daughter of Woodard D. Holland 2 and his wife Rhoda.  The complete line of Minnie Aycock's parents, Addie Cornelia Holland and William Chester Aycock, along with Minnie's siblings is located on Addie Cornelia Holland's page.  

A note the Woodard D. Hollands in this family.  There are three generations of Woodard D. Holland, beginning with Elisha's son born in 1794.  Since we do not know what the D. stands for, we cannot assume that the second Woodard D. was a Junior, or that his son was the 3rd; their middle names could have all been different.  So, for the sake of referencing them in this family history, I am going to refer to the second-generation Woodard D. Holland, born in 1834, as Woodard D. 2, and to his son, born in 1868, as Woodard D. 3.  This is not to be taken as repeated names in subsequent generations which we would distinguish as Jr. and III, but merely as a convenience of reference.

2.  Minnie Aycock was born 15 January 1887 in North Carolina.  She married Judge Mershon Tomberlin on 7 December 1902 in Appling County, Georgia.  She was his second wife, he being married 1st to Lula Mae Bennett in 1897 in Appling County, Georgia.  Mershon Tomberlin was born 21 September 1879 in Appling County, Georgia and died 2 October 1940 in Appling County, Georgia.  He is buried in the Tomberlin-Paulk Cemetery, about one mile from the Holland Cemetery in Appling County, Georgia.  He is the first child of Major Dobby Tomberlin and Mary Priscilla Crosby.  Mershon Tomberlin and Lula Bennett had two children:  Isabelle Tomberlin (born 13 November 1897 in Appling County, Georgia; died 8 September 1976 in Florida) and Elzie Pomeroy Tomberlin (born in October 1898, died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound 10 March 1914 in Appling County, Georgia.  Minnie died in 1967 and is also buried in the Tomberlin-Paulk Cemetery in Surrency, Appling County, Georgia.  Click for a picture of Minnie Aycock and Judge Mershon Tomberlin in the Album section of this web site.

1.  Charlie Bruce Tomberlin was born 1 September 1904 in Appling County, Georgia.  He died 15 July 1964 in Appling County, Georgia and is buried in Tomberlin-Paulk Cemetery in Appling County, Georgia.  On 1 April 1922 in Appling County, Georgia, Charlie married Mary Lizzie Morgan who was the daughter of Charles Morgan.

1.  Bernice Tomberlin was born 19 December 1925.  She married Raymond M. Turner.

1.  Raymond M. Turner, Jr. was born 21 August 1947.  He married Brenda Shirley of Hazlehurst, Jeff Davis County, Georgia.  They live in Hampton, Georgia, and serve at People's Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia.  There is a picture of their family in the Album, Family Photos section of this web site.

1.  Charles Raymond Turner was born 1 February 1972.

2.  Rebecca Leigh Turner was born 23 May 1974.  She married Johnnie Bates of Aiken, South Carolina.

2.  Shelly Carmen Stone was born 2 April 1975.   She married Charles Christopher Roppe.  They live in Baxley, Georgia.

3.  Candace Brook Stone was born 2 March 1981.  

4.  John Claude Turner was born 8 May 1956.   He married Patricia Ann Brown of Lumber City, Georgia.  Patricia was born 19 July 1958.   They live in Hazlehurst, Georgia.

1.  Elizabeth Ann Turner was born 26 October 1978.  She married David "Scooter" Beckworth of Appling County.  They live in Hazlehurst, Jeff Davis County, Georgia.

2.  Lori Nicole Turner was born 30 September 1983.

5.  Steven Alton Turner was born 19 December 1962.  He married Sonya Renee Butler.  Sonya was born 22 September 1965.  They live in Hazlehurst, Georgia.

2.  William Edward Tomberlin was born 1 December 1927 in Appling County, Georgia.  He married Joyce Rainwater, daughter of Brice Rainwater and Verdie Aycock, 11 July 1952 in Appling County, Georgia.  Joyce Rainwater and William Edward Tomberlin were second cousins.⁸

2.  Riley Woodard Tomberlin was born 3 February 1906 in Appling County, Georgia.  He died 29 November 1984 in Appling County, Georgia.  Riley married Mary Ellen Paulk, daughter of Elisha Paulk and Rebecca Harper, on 30 September 1923 in Appling County, Georgia.

1.  Elisha Philip Tomberlin was born 30 July 1924 in Appling County, Georgia.  He died in 1991 in Appling County, Georgia.  Elisha married first Dorothy Mae Woods;  he married second, Wilma Perry in 1940 in Appling County, Georgia.

3.  Joseph Walter Tomberlin was born 8 February 1930 in Appling County, Georgia.  Joseph married Janie McGlashen in 1954 in Homerville, Georgia.  He died 9 November 1967 in Waycross, Georgia and is buried in Tomberlin-Paulk Cemetery in Appling County, Georgia.

5.  Earl Clark Tomberlin was born 24 February 1934 in Appling County, Georgia.  He died of measles 6 April 1934 in Appling County, Georgia at the age of 1 month, 10 days.  Earl is buried in Tomberlin-Paulk Cemetery.

6.  Major Dobby Tomberlin was born 21 April 1935 in Appling County, Georgia.  He married first Christine Spell in 1956.

Major Dobby Tomberlin married second, Sandra Yvonne Apperson Franklin, daughter of Olan Apperson and Gladys Bell, on 20 September 1958 in Appling County, Georgia.

2.  Daniel Dobby Tomberlin was born 28 May 1959 in West Palm Beach, Florida.  He married Sharon Kay Harvey, daughter of William Harvey and Alberta Ogden, on 10 May 1980 in Baxley Church of God, Baxley, Appling County, Georgia.  In 1986 Dan was ordained a minister in the Church of God.

1.  Aaron Daniel Tomberlin was born 24 February1985.

2.  Nathan Timothy Tomberlin was born 13 September 1989.

3.  Timothy Wayne Tomberlin was born 17 June 1960 in Melbourne, Florida.  He married Sandra Joy Harrellson 25 October 1980 in Friendship Christian Church, Baxley, Georgia.  Timothy was elected Appling County Commissioner, District 5 in 1988 and served four years.   He also served as Deacon at Friendship Christian Church.

1.  Erica Joy Tomberlin was born 21 September 1981.

2.  Danielle Samantha Tomberlin was born 23 July 1985.

4.  Randall Scott Tomberlin was born 16 May 1962 in West Palm Beach, Florida.  He married Dee Morton in Crystal River, Florida.

Major Dobby Tomberlin married third Deloris Giddens on 23 June 1972 in Baxley, Appling County, Georgia.

7.  David William Tomberlin was born 31 December 1917 in Appling County, Georgia and died 21 October 1987 in Glennville, Georgia.  He moved to South Carolina when he was a teenager to live with his sister Addie May Paulk.  He was drafted into the Army and served in World War II.  He was engaged in the Battle of the Buldge.  David married Vera Porter and lived most of his life in Anderson, South Carolina.

1.  Philip Tomberlin was killed in an automobile crash in 1972.

8.  Edith B. Tomberlin was born 7 March 1919 in Appling County, Georgia.  She married James Moore 9 February 1936 in Appling County, Georgia.  He was an ordained minister in the Church of God.

9.  Nathan Ired Tomberlin was born 3 February 1922 in Appling County, Georgia.  He married Edna Perry 24 December 1941 in Appling County, Georgia.
